Don't quit.
@ 2007-11-23 – 21:30:47
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.Author Unknown

The Fury
@ 2007-11-18 – 23:25:16
Having trained for six days, three times a day most days, it was Wednesday, the Fury day. This year no one had opted to undertake the mini - triathlon so we kicked off early for the Fury. A little after ten in the morning the guys met me by the ring. The previous blog showed some pictures from the Fury, what follows is a description of what the Fury exactly entails.
For reasons that are slightly vague and weak, the Fury comprises of eleven rounds - a round comprising of sparring and exercise. Sparring rounds lasted for ninety seconds, the length of exercises varied. Walk back is always to the ring.
Round one - spar - 30 secs rest - 200m run
2 mins rest/walk back
Round two - spar - 30 secs rest - 100m sprint
2mins rest/walk back
Round three - spar - 30 secs rest - weighted shoulder press x3 30sec burst with 30 sec rest between.
1min rest/walk back
Round four - spar - 30 secs rest - 100m walking lunges
2mins rest/walk back.
Round five - spar - 30 secs rest - press-ups x3 30 sec burst/30 sec rest.
1 min rest.
Round six - spar - 30 secs rest - crunches x100
1 min rest.
Round seven - spar - 30secs rest - 400m run
3 mins rest/walk back
Round eight - spar -30 secs rest - squat thrust x3 30 sec burst/30 sec rest.
2 mins rest
Round nine - spar - 30 secs rest - star jumps and press-ups x20(x3)
2 mins rest
Round ten - spar - 30 secs rest - 800m
4 mins rest/walk back
Round eleven - sparring one minute rounds, twenty seconds rest between rounds (x10)
FIN.
The Fury 2007. I’m thinking of doing a “Fury plus” for 2008, watch this space.

Here we go again...
@ 2007-11-01 – 04:52:01
There is something about getting up at 2 in the morning that mutes the elation of escaping the rat race for a fortnight! It's La Santa time again and the fun as already started, I have only worked this morning/night that i'm on a different flight from the rest of my party - long, not very interesting story - Steve, the Geordie, has already called me three times, with far more exuberance than any person has a right to possess at four in the morning! Meanwhile, the elusive Doug is wandering around the south terminal when i should be at the north. It's 4.50am and i'm about to go and find everybody before I rush back to the south terminal. Don't ask...! More to come.
